Air pollution
This research area focuses on the study of air pollution and particulate matter composition and dynamics, with application on environmental safety and toxicology. We work on the determination of environmental micropollutants and their metabolites, focusing on the characterization of environmental matrices such as atmospheric particulate matter and wastewater. Part of the research is also focused on the effects of neonicotinoid insecticides on honeybee health, demonstrating their role in colony decline observed worldwide.
To achieve these objectives, we employ advanced analytical techniques, including HPLC coupled with UV-DAD and fluorimetric detection, single cell/single particle ICP-MS, IC.
