Research
My research involves the study of protein architecture and structure, to elucidate their chemical properties and the basic mechanisms underlying biological function at the molecular and atomic levels. For protein characterization, the main experimental techniques used are macromolecular crystallography (XRD) and SAXS, together with classical biophysical methods such as circular dichroism (CD), fluorescence spectroscopy, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and Differential Scanning Fluorimetry (DSF).
I am currently focusing on the SARS-CoV-2 main protease, Mpro, its allosteric mechanism of action, and novel inhibition modalities for the development of antiviral drugs.
